Dear Fellow Vermonter:
|
It's time Vermont had a governor who represents the majority of Vermont voters. It's time for a governor with common-sense solutions to the tough problems that face our state - education, jobs and the economy, health care, transportation, the environment, and others. It's time for a change.
It's time for an honest to goodness leader. And I know I'm that person. I'm uniquely qualified to lead our state out of the mess we're in today. I will work to get Vermont onto the right track again for economic prosperity and local control in decision-making.
As a centrist, Independent governor it will be my goal to represent the majority of Vermonters who have been ignored by the two party system and who are fed-up with the rigid party platforms. |

As Vermont's next governor, I pledge to address these critical issues and work toward finding common-sense solutions:
Education - Return local control to school districts. Replace local school tax with a statewide 1% consumption tax to be distributed on a per pupil basis to local school districts and improved state college, libraries and research facilities.
drug and alcohol screening legal issues Jobs and the economy - Stop the alarming migration of our educated youth, skilled jobs, and natural resources/raw materials out of state by creating a business-friendly climate in the state. Build an economy that provides Vermonters a livable wage by developing a vibrant industrial base and strengthening agriculture and the tourism industry.
Health insurance - Repeal Act 160 which was designed to create an unworkable state-run, single-payer system. Develop innovative, common-sense measures which will provide working Vermonters with access to affordable health insurance.
Transportation - Focus on road maintenance, especially winter roads to insure the safety of Vermonters and encourage visitors. Embrace the efforts of private business to bring the nationally recognized concepts of intermodalism, multimodalism, and intelligent transportation systems to Vermont.
Environmental regulations - Modify Act 250 to reduce unnecessary procedures and expense and to streamline processes. Stop auctioning-off one sensitive parcel for another. Vermont's natural heritage isn't for sale at any price.
